NLBK had the opportunity to catch up with Brooklyn based event promoter, Queen Bee of the Good Peoples. Queen Bee has worked with a diverse collective of DJs, promoters, record labels, clothing companies, art galleries, and magazines. With her taste-making ability and network, a Good Peoples event will be an experience for the ages.
Are you a Brooklyn Native? If so, what part?
No, I live in Manhattan, but my office (which is basically where I live these days) is in Carroll Gardens. Many of you have probably visited! It is an outside venue on the Gowanus Canal on Carroll Street called, The BKLYN Yard. We post up in the big silo in the back.

Washington DC
How long have you lived or performed in Brooklyn?
I’ve lived in Manhattan for 7 years. My events have been operating in Brooklyn for about 5 years.
What is your favorite place of Brooklyn to hang out?

Post bikes http://www.postbikes.com it’s a BMX shop on North 1st between Driggs and Roebling. They are awesome guys and have a great space. I’m all about riding my bike this summer

What are your inspirations and influences?
Music is what inspires me and influences me every day. It’s the connecting force throughout everything that I do. Discovering it, sharing it, and just being surrounded by music and people that love it as much as I do.
What future projects do you have in the works?
The Next Flashing Lights party is a Loft party in Brooklyn!! It’s a dance party with Ayres (the rub), Jubilee (nightshifters), and catchdubs (fools gold) 50 North 3rd @ Kent ave. I’m also teaming up with Post Bikes to throw a big showcase/all ages daytime event at The Shank on June 22nd And you can find me at the BKLYN Yard every weekend!
What is your favorite memory of Brooklyn?
Backyard BBQs in park slope, rooftop parties in Bushwick, long days turned into nights in Williamsburg, Fourth of July on Greenpoint rooftops
Who is the first person who comes to mind when you hear the word, “Brooklyn”?
My boy Nik , Nik of Nite of The Bangers. He introduced me to Brooklyn, and NY. He was born and raised in Brooklyn and he reminds me of all the things I love about it.

Flying Lotus – GNG BNG (he just played at LOVE and it was amazing)
