What Happened to Chuck of NLBK? You ask.

Well, it has been hectic 5 months for me.  Being a freelancer in the TV and Film industry, I found myself being overwhelm with work and no time to play, compounded by the fact it’s only me contributing to the site.  I had to take a break.   Neverleavebrooklyn.com has been a hobby of mine since 2007, when I started the site to share information about the Brooklyn’s emerging entertainment and lifestyle scenes. For a person who is not a writer or blogger, I tend to post information about my guilty pleasures, music, fashion and the nightlife. Occasionally, you may read a post about other topics such as community service awareness, sports or celebrities news.  I stay away for politics and news, I want positive energy on my site and it seems that politics and news will brings down the energy level. With that in mind, I want to keep NLBK simple and fun, because Brooklyn is the greatest non city in the world.

Looking for Help!

Jesse Thompkins III Foundation for Young People in the Arts presents: JT3 Artist Award Recipients 2009

jesse-pic

In our inaugural year, we presented ourselves with a challenge worthy of our namesake – to create and launch an awards program that seeks artists who embody not just creative talent, not just persistence in the face of obstacles, but are also generous of spirit and good of heart.  We were thrilled when we saw the caliber of the artists applying to our program, and knew our panel of film/tv professionals would have a hard time choosing who should receive cash grants.  With the generous donations we received over the past year, we were able to provide cash grants to five of our talented applicants.

MIH & Prospect Park Alliance presents: “It’s my Park Day!”

Saturday, October 24th:

heatwave_8dot0_collage

MIHicon would once again like to thank the more than 3,000 people that spent the beautiful summer day with us in Prospect Park on Sunday, July 19th.  It was by far our largest HEATWAVE to date and we thank you for your continued support in making this the highlight event of the summer.

Now - help us keep HEATWAVE alive!

In response to the publicly noted backlash from this year’s HEATWAVE, we have worked with Prospect Park and its leadership to spearhead  a community service day in conjunction with the already existing, “It’s My Park! Day.”
The scheduled date for this event is Saturday, October 24th, from 10am to 2pm.

We are looking for your help, as supporters of HEATWAVE and MIHicon,  in getting together as many volunteers as possible to help make this event a huge success and also cement a working rapport with Prospect Park and the Prospect Park Alliance for future events and of course HEATWAVES.

Will there be a HEATWAVE10.0?

The success of this event will determine that – fate lies in our hands! If you are willing to volunteer to help keep our parks clean and the HEATWAVE tradition alive – Remember the wonderful tradition HEATWAVE has become…

From 10am to 2pm

Please come and support!
