“PEACOCK’S PENNY ARCADE”
Peacock’s Penny Arcade is a pop-punk ‘Pop-Rock, ‘ by turns sweet, salty and bitter, with a chemical finish but none of the foul aftertaste left by lesser bands. This offbeat octet provides the soundtrack to Weimar America, with guitar-driven, cabaret-inflected songs of murder, mayhem, lust, longing and vampirism. Headquartered in New York City, they’re sure to set your toes tapping and slap a malevolent smile on the mug of the most hardened cynic.

Friday Feb 29:

Dead Flower Productions presents… APOTHECARY HYMN

Alternately thought of as “drug songs” and “medicine music”, the shambolic, shamanistic realm of Apothecary Hymns finds its mystic locus in group arrangements and strong songs. Originally begun as a one-man recording project by Brooklynite Alex Stimmel, Apothecary Hymns’s debut CD/LP was released by Chicago’s Locust Music. Since then, Stimmel has abandoned the solitary format in favor of the energy of a full-tilt band configuration, with Rob Fellman on bass, Jon Abrams on guitar, and Aaron Nixon on drums. Apothecary Hymns’s twin-guitar attack blissfully incorporates heavy psychedelia, acid-fried boogie, pastoral folk moves and fall-apart freakbeat.

Saturday March 1st:

“THE WALKING HELLOS”

The Walking Hellos are four multifarious Brooklyn musicians with eight instruments between them and a taste for mixing things up. A swirling vortex of guitar loops, plucky banjo, sweet vocals with a short temper and an accordion with a private dreamlife combine with vibrant bass, driving drums, and hip-shaking baritone guitar grooves to create a raucous blend of gorgeous, brainy music. An unpredictable and delectable fusion of the thoughtful, the raucous, the pretty, and the pounding… Featuring Rose Thomson of Brooklyn indie legends Babe The Blue Ox as well as best selling author Myla Goldberg (Bee Season).

Plus: One band TBA
