THE BLACK HOLLIES
“A mash up of British Invasion blues, guitar heroics and psychedelia that would bring a smile to Brian Jones’ face.” - Rolling Stone
“A mod-rock revival never sounded so good… From the opening “Whispers Beneath The Willows,” to the closing “Patient Sparrow,” the sound of [The Black Hollies’ Casting Shadows] is deliciously familiar, packed with slick sounding ’60s guitar work, fuzzed-out lead vocals and well-mixed harmonies, as well as a perfectly on-beat rhythm section. In short, these dudes have jolted some serious life back into a genre once typified by the likes of The Pretty Things, Tommy James & The Shondells, and The Seeds.” - Verbicide
Plus: THE ABOVE
http://www.myspace.com/newyorkabove >
The Above a young, enegetic NYC band whose music is heavily influenced by the British Invasion, as well as the ’60s sounds of Motown, Chess, Stax, Atlantic, and the classic Nuggets compilation.
